The folks over at Sugru share a quick guide to creating new volume buttons for iPhones out of their product, but these same methods should work for pretty much any device. You just need to remove the broken button, clean the area with a q-tip, and then remove the button screws. You can then mold the Sugru into a new button, push the screws inside, and attach your new button to restore volume functionality to your phone.
